Description: This 2.0 hour Continuing Medical Education session hosted by Stratford EMS will cover Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD). Approved Local Core Content.
Over the past few years, several patients have been discharged from Yale into our community with Left Ventricular Assist Devices. These patients are typically low frequency / high acuity, requiring specific knowledge and education. Training on LVAD is actively evolving and the Team at Yale is available to come provide us with that first hand knowledge.
Objectives of Training will include:
- Understanding complications that can occur in patients with LVADs
- Describe the types of LVADs (Heartmate and HVAD), possible alarms and expected responses
- Identify LVAD emergencies and appropriate actions
Intended Audience: SHCGB Paramedics, CT Paramedics, BLS is welcome
