Description: This two (2) hour, instructor-lead, continuing education course orientates the field provider to Penetrating Trauma

Shift after shift EMS providers respond to routine and extraordinary calls for assistance with a goal of “helping”, but too often we take for granted when people are “suppose” to call and how they are “suppose” to act and what they are “suppose” to know. But is everyone knew all this, would they really need EMS? We will look at how we can approach our patients differently. We will look at how we can transition from the patient who does not need our help to the bystander or family member who does.

Objectives:

  • Promote understanding of what the public “does” know and how their understanding and expectation is our mission
  • Provide attendees with new tools to make a better impression and be better providers
  • The attendees will be able to demonstrate communication skills to enhance public interaction while reducing patient, provider and public anxiety.

Intended Audience: All EMS Providers
