Times: Evenings 6p-10p (Saturdays 08:30-16:30)

Cost: $1130.00 ($500.00 non-refundable deposit required)

Note: This course is over 200 hours of live (In-person) lecture / classroom time with hands-on practicals in order to prepare the student for examinations for State of Connecticut and perform the duties of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).  Will also include 12 hours of clinical observation time.

Workforce Readiness Training: The Stratford Volunteer EMS Association (SVEMSA) is proud to offer it’s upcoming Spring EMT Certification Program.  This course includes CPR, Bleeding Control (BCon), patient assessment, safe lifting and the following certifications:

  • NAEMT EMS Safety
  • NAEMT Psychological Trauma for EMS Patients (PTEP)
  • NAEMT Geriatric Education for EMS (GEMS)
  • HazMat Awareness
  • NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800
  • CEVO IV
  • QPR Gatekeeper
  • Human Trafficking for EMS
  • Difficult Airway for EMT’s
  • Vehicle Extrication workshop

This course prepares candidate EMT’s for credentialing and actual EMS work in the field: Successful completion of this course will enable the student to test for National certification as an Emergency Medical Technician. Upon certification, EMT’s staff ambulances, work in hospitals and know what to do in the event of a medical emergency.

Course will include classroom lecture and hands-on practical skills assessments in order to prepare the student for examinations for State and National certification and to perform the duties of an Emergency Medical Technician.

It is important to note that: This course is very difficult.  Time management and personal responsibility will be the There is a lot of college level reading, there will be quizzes and tests along the way.  There are projects and presentations.  Students are expected to be in proper uniform for each day of class, they are expected to come to class prepared – having read the chapters in their text and completed any assigned homework.  Students will be treated similar to if they are already working and will be held accountable to the workload and rules of the course.  Tardiness and “Time off” from class are all considered as part of the class grade.  ***THIS IS NOT AN EASY CLASS***

The cost for this course is $1130.00 and includes:

Uniform shirt, Online textbook, stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, penlight and scissors.

What does the student need (not provided):
Uniform pants, navy blue (Dickies, EMS pants)
Black rubber sole boots & black belt

Students are expected to be in uniform and to bring their books and “go bags” to all in person classes, practicals and clinical observations.
