Join the Connecticut Emergency Animal Response Service (EARS) for a presentation and demonstration for Public Safety personnel on dealing with animals at emergency scenes.
Overview:
This emergency services outreach program, offered by EARS, is presented as a multimedia and demonstration session which includes the following topics:
- Concepts of Animal Emergency Management
- Working Together: What EARS Provides For First Responders
- “Real World” On-Scene Operations
- Safe Pet Handling
- Introduction To Pet First Aid
TEACHING DEMO: Pet Oxygen Masks
TEACHING DEMO: Pet CPR
TEACHING DEMO: Human EMS Items That Can Be Used For Pets
The program ranges from 1 – 2 hours, with time for hands-on “practical” demonstrations as well as question and answers. Members of the EARS certified responders will be available to share and explain animal emergency equipment and resources that our team provides to local emergency departments to assist with animal situations on scene of house fires, accidents, or animal-specific calls, whether single incidents or large scale disaster response. The EARS Animal Ambulance will also be onsite.
