Stratford EMS participates in career days with the Stratford Public / Private Schools as well as other events throughout the year to bring volunteer opportunities and EMS awareness to the community. Citizen’s EMS Academy
The Citizen’s EMS Academy is a unique was for adult residents to learn more about the functions and operations of Stratford EMS.
First on the Scene (FOTS) course
First on the Scene (FOTS), developed by NAEMT and the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), provides the general public basic emergency response to life-threatening emergencies until EMS arrives on the scene. Through lesson presentations and hands-on skill stations, participants will learn how to access help in the event of a life-threatening emergency and what to do until EMS arrives.
Community CPR/AED and First Aid Courses
Sign up for the informative, community CPR/AED & First Aid courses made available by the Stratford Volunteer EMS Association. Help us maintain our HEARTSafe Community designation!
Pet First Aid / Safety Programs
Learn about pet first aid and safety from our partner Emergency Animal Response Service (EARS). SEMS regularly invites EARS to provide this valuable education to the public.

Fall Prevention
The Fall Prevention Program was designed to inform and educate the public about the causes of falls in older adults, and the assessments, inspections, and health promotion measures which can be taken to reduce the risk of falls in this age group. In a partnership with St. Vincents Medical Center, SEMS and the Stratford Health and Senior Services had developed the following guidance. DUI Awareness
Learn about having Stratford EMS help with DWI awareness program for the Stratford / Bunnell High School juniors and seniors reminding them of the dangers associated with underage drinking and driving.
The Stratford Volunteer EMS Association “File of Life” program lets you store your important medical information intended for when emergency responders need your information quickly if you cannot communicate.
